Carpe diem!
seize the day
The ancient Roman poet Horace wrote, Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero: seize the day, believe in tomorrow as little as possible.
What an inspiring thought! That doesn’t mean, go ahead and destroy your life because tomorrow might never happen. Ancient Romans weren’t this reckless. They left us with some timeless wisdom, though. This particular thought is helpful during those times of hesitation, we all had them, when we second guess ourselves, think things through a little too long. Don’t. Life is now.
The first time I encountered this motto was while watching Dead Poets Society (1989), directed by Peter Weir with an inspired Robin Williams who told us, through the words of screenwriter Tom Shulman: “Carpe Diem, make your life extraordinary”.
Very much like of Festina Lente, I think of Carpe Diem every day and I created a scent to make this lesson in a way more “tangible”.
CARPE DIEM is a warm, amber-based perfume with pink pepper, tobacco, and vetiver. It is the heart of desire: dark and spiced, it is the scent of action. It is the secret heart in which live the strength and trepidation we feel in facing life’s opportunities, seizing them in a moment.
Olfactory pyramid:

cogli l’attimo
L'antico poeta romano Orazio scriveva, Carpe diem, quam minimal credula postero: cogli l'attimo, credi nel domani il meno possibile.
Che pensiero! Ciò non significa: "Distruggiti la vita perché domani potrebbe non arrivare mai". Gli antichi romani non erano così sconsiderati. Ci hanno lasciato però una saggezza senza tempo. Questo pensiero in particolare è utile durante quei momenti di esitazione, li abbiamo avuti tutti, quando abbiamo dubbi paralizzanti, pensiamo alle cose un po' troppo a lungo. No. La vita è adesso.
La prima volta che ho incontrato questo motto è stato mentre guardavo L'attimo dei poeti (1989), diretto da Peter Weir con un ispirato Robin Williams che ci diceva, attraverso le parole dello sceneggiatore Tom Shulman: “Carpe Diem, rendi la tua vita straordinaria”.
Così come penso spesso al motto Festina Lente, penso anche a Carpe Diem e ho creato un profumo per rendere questa lezione in modo più “tangibile”.
CARPE DIEM è un profumo caldo a base ambrata con pepe rosa, tabacco e vetiver. È il cuore del desiderio: scuro e speziato, è il profumo dell'azione. È il cuore segreto in cui vivono la forza e la trepidazione che proviamo nell’affrontare le opportunità della vita, cogliendole in un attimo.
