How did this all start?
the beginning of a small business
My work life looks a bit schizophrenic from outside. To me it makes perfect sense, but it’s true that I did have many careers - I still do. Starting Festina Lente Milano is one of those choices that might look insane: an actress and writer that starts a home scent business? The truth is that I have always been fascinated by the sens of smell, so animalistic and divine at the same time, the language of emotions and memory, a language in itself that needs metaphors and poetry to be described.
I was living in New York City when I started Festina Lente, and had begun feeling a little homesick for Italy, appreciating more than ever its history, its culture, and the heritage of craftsmanship it’s famous for. It’s always the same story, isn’t it? It’s so much easier to appreciate what you have when you see it from a distance. So it really makes sense that in the summer of 2017, after over 15 years of living in New York, I felt that this new adventure was going to be the right choice for me.
What I didn’t know was that I would be relocating back to my country, making real Made in Italy products in a lab in my own shop, shipping my candles and diffuser all over the world.

COME' È INIZIATO TUTTO?
STORIA DELL’INIZIO DI UNA PICCOLA IMPRESA
La mia vita lavorativa sembra un po’ schizofrenica vista dall’esterno. Per me ha perfettamente senso, ma è vero che ho avuto molte carriere - e ne ho ancora. Avviare Festina Lente Milano è una di quelle scelte che potrebbero sembrare folli: un'attrice e scrittrice che avvia un'attività di profumi per la casa? La verità è che mi ha sempre affascinato il senso dell'olfatto, così animalesco e divino allo stesso tempo, il linguaggio delle emozioni e della memoria, un linguaggio a sé che ha bisogno di metafore e poesia per essere descritto.
Vivevo a New York quando ho fondato Festina Lente e avevo iniziato a sentire un po’ di nostalgia per l’Italia, apprezzandone più che mai la storia, la cultura e il patrimonio artigianale per cui è famosa. È sempre la stessa storia, vero?, è molto più facile apprezzare ciò che hai quando lo vedi da lontano. Quindi alla fine, è logico che nell'estate del 2017, dopo oltre 15 anni vissuti a New York, un bimbo di un anno e mezzo e uno in arrivo, sentissi che questa nuova avventura sarebbe stata la scelta giusta per me.
Quello che non sapevo era che mi sarei trasferita di nuovo nel mio paese, scoprendo una città che non conoscevo, Milano, e realizzando veri prodotti Made in Italy in un laboratorio nel mio negozio, spedendo le mie candele e il mio diffusore in tutto il mondo.
